8th Nanbudo World Championship

Yaoundé, Cameroon · 1 to 4 October 2026

The international Nanbudo family will come together in Yaoundé, Cameroon, from 1 to 4 October for the 8th Nanbudo World Championship.

For the first time, the World Championship will take place on the African continent. Nanbudoka, referees, instructors and representatives of national federations will gather in Yaoundé for four days of competition, encounters and shared experiences.

This page will be the WNF’s central hub for #nanbudochamp2026. It will be regularly updated with new information as the Championship approaches.

Thursday 1 October – Championship preparations
International referee seminar, technical meeting, checks, weigh-ins and competition preparations.

Friday 2 October – Day 1
Start of the Kata and Ju Randori competitions, official opening ceremony and first medal ceremonies.

Saturday 3 October – Day 2
Kata and Ju Randori competitions, finals and medal ceremonies.

Sunday 4 October – Day 3
Finals, medal ceremonies, closing ceremony and gala evening.

🇨🇲 Preparing for your stay in Yaoundé

💰 Currency and payments

Cameroon’s currency is the CFA franc (XAF), with a fixed exchange rate of approximately 655.957 CFA francs to €1. Bank cards are accepted at some hotels and establishments, but their use remains limited. It is therefore advisable to carry some cash as well.

🔌 Electricity
The electricity supply is 220–240 V / 50 Hz. The sockets used are compatible with common European plugs; participants travelling from the United Kingdom, in particular, should bring an adapter.

📱 Telephone
Cameroon’s international calling code is +237. Mobile phone networks are available in Yaoundé.

🌡️ Yaoundé
Located at an altitude of approximately 700 metres, Yaoundé enjoys a cooler climate than Douala. The city is served by Yaoundé Nsimalen International Airport (NSI).

💉 Health
Yellow fever vaccination is mandatory for entry into Cameroon. Malaria prevention and travel and health insurance are also recommended.

🚕 Getting around
Taxis are plentiful in Yaoundé and are easily recognised by their yellow colour. They generally do not use meters. Specific information about transport organised for the Championship will be communicated separately.
